Getting to the Gathering
Our conference is based in Rocky Harbour, the largest community in Gros Morne National Park and is centrally located for touring this World Heritage Site.
All conference venues will be in short walking distance within the town of Rocky Harbour. The town of Rocky Harbour is approximately forty-five minutes from the Deer lake Airport in the heart of Gros Morne National Park.

Join us for a 3 day pre, or post-conference tour of Newfoundland's great Northern Peninsula! Discover human habitation dating back over 4000 years at Port au Choix National Historic Site. Walk the shores where the Vikings settled over 1000 years ago, L'Anse aux Meadows UNESCO World Heritage Site. Learn of Sir Wilfred Grenfell's medical legacy in St. Anthony. Enjoy spectacular coastal scenery. Departing from Gros Morne National Park, this 2 day tour takes you to all the highlights along the Viking Trail. The tour includes a knowledgeable local guide, transportation, 2 lunches, 1 supper, 1 night accommodation.

Let's Go Sea Kayaking
So you've always wanted to sea kayak! Join us on a 2-hour guided sea kayaking adventure. All ages and abilities will enjoy the stunning scenery and pristine waters of Bonne Bay. Lots of sealife to explore and whale sightings are common.
Daily until October 5th: 10am 12 noon; 2pm 4pm

$50 (tax included) per person; experienced naturalist guide leads tour; double or single sea kayak, paddle, PFD, skirt and safety equipment provided. Located on the Norris Point Waterfront. Coastal & Mountain Hiking in Gros Morne National Park
Gros Morne Mountain Hike
Hike to the highest point in the park, Gros Morne Mountain. This rigorous hike leads to the arctic alpine wilderness of the Long Range Mountains. Rare vegetation clings to this barren landscape and hardy inhabitants like the Woodland Caribou, Rock Ptarmigan, and Arctic Hare are often seen. Enjoy spectacular views overlooking the glacier-carved fjords of Bonne Bay and Ten Mile Pond. Plan on a 7-8 hour hike with an elevation gain of 806m.

Green Gardens Hike
The Green Gardens hike leads to a spectacular volcanic coastline. The route crosses a portion of the earth's mantle rock, traverses an arctic alpine rock garden, and descends into a boreal forest valley of northern evergreens, songbirds, and moose. At the seacoast wide beaches with shallow rock pools, grassy meadows, rock pillars, ancient volcanic sea-stacks, and rugged cliffs unfold before you. Enjoy the fall colours as you descend into the Wallace Brook valley and return to the trail head. Plan on a 7-8 hour hike with an elevation gain of over 500m.

$95 (tax included) per person; experienced naturalist guide leads tour; includes transportation to trailhead (pick up & drop off at your accommodations in Rocky Harbour or Norris Point). Lunch available for an additional $15. Bring a change of clothing for the afternoon in case you get a little wet sea kayaking.
